Homespun Birth is a birth & doula fellowship born from the idea that every woman deserves the best care, information, & support during this incredibly transformative period in her life & the lives of her family.  It is our goal to have a woman joyfully own her birth, be educated before & empowered by it after.

Homespun Birth is service without judgement.  Women deserve to have the birth that they truly want. The mothers are doing the hard part, we are here to make it easier.

Homespun Birth was started in 2011 by Laura Barsay-McKay Asked by an acquaintance to support them as a doula (something she didn’t even know existed),  she learned it was her calling & has been working within a co-op of wonderful women ever since.  Laura works as a labor & postpartum doula as well a childbirth educator through Informed Beginnings.  She was trained through DONA for birthwork & TTPS for placenta encapsulations.  Laura lives in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago with her awesome husband & 2 amazing littles.
